Atlanta Falcons
Today, we look at the depraving state of the once glorious Atlanta Falcons franchise. The wheeling and dealing heavy approche that owner Ansem is known for has had mixed results in the past. They have always been contenders to their division title but it is only because it is one of the weakest division in all MFL33. Now off to a 1-6 start to the season resulting in a 3rd place in division, the team is trying to turn their fortune around in a division where every games are intersting.
Roster Breakdown:
Top 3 Offensive players: RB Adrian Peterson, WR Harry Douglas and RG Mackenzy Bernadeau
The Falcons insuccess has to be attributed to the poor play of their Quarterback and leader Matt Ryan. Matty Ice has now thrown 16 Interceptions in 7 games wich ranks him among the worst QB's in that category. What is even worse is that he only has 8 TD's to his credit wich also keeps him in the lower tier of the league. Adrian Peterson while still being ranked as 4th best RB in yardage is a deception. His low 7,7 yards per carry is wayyy too low to his standards but the good part is that he gets the ball so much that he can turn his season around. As for Harry Douglas, such a big deception this season. Only 496 yards in 7 games while he had 2205 yards last season is a really down year as he is on pace for only 55 catches and 1000 yards. Mackenzie Bernadeau is the bright spot on this horrendous offense. The big guy has 26 pancakes under his belt already wich is a pretty nice feat.
Top 3 Defensive players: CB Desmond Trufant, CB Robert Alford and ROLB Sean Wheatherspoon
The average defense that represents the Atlanta Falcons has some brights spots in it. CB Desmond Trufant is the brightest one with his 4 Interceptions. The young playmaker is really the anchor of that secondary who is actually lacking consistency. They are capable of great things while they are still capable of the worst at times. Both starting safeties William Moore and Thomas Decoud are piling up the tackles since so many plays ends up in the defensive backfield of the Falcons. One thing the Falcons clearly doesnt lack is pressure on the Quarterback. They are getting pressure from multiple spots in the front seven so its a good thing to build on.
Roster strong spots: OL, DB
Roster weak spots: WR, DL, LB
Rankings:
Atlanta currently ranks as the 12th best overall offense while being 24th in the air and 6th on the ground. Defensively, the Falcons rank as the 24th best overall while being 23rd defending the pass and 23rd at defending the run game.
The Falcons offense is pretty much unbalanced as they are running the ball quite effectively while having problems moving the ball through the air.
Hard to find a more balanced defense as they both rank in the lower tier of the league.
Future of the team:
This team would need to upgrade in several spots to be considered great again. Building through the draft and trading for high profile player hasnt seemed to be the best way to go for them so maybe they should try acquiring multiple good young players and develop them how they want.
