Atlanta Falcons
A Season that wasn't noticed. Skated under the radar. One play off game later, a unified team that finally earned it's respect!
Matt Ryan, laid it all out on the line in his play off game vs the Redskins. Having a rough season, for the first time in three seasons, throwing more Interceptions than touchdowns and sacked more than the last 2 seasons combined. This up and coming super star has big things on his mind in future years.
Giovani Sweet and Micheal Turner could not get going this season. Amassing a very sad 1,200 yards of team rushing yards. As Turner climbs the rings to retirement age he is helping the young star drafted in the 6th round last year learn the ropes. Packing more speed than Turner yet just as strong, bright things on the horizon for the young player. He promised the fans in his press conference that he will have 2,000 yards rushing with less fumbles. Only time will tell.
It doesn't shock anyone that the Falcons have a strong wide receiver core. Led by Julio Jones and Harry Douglas. Having great showing in the last 3 seasons, Douglas missed his first play off game with broken ribs. Ben Jones and Carlos Perkins, just a rookie last season showed they belong on this team, and be useful in the time of need. Micheal Crabtree having come to Atlanta has been a disappointment. Maybe its the scheme, or maybe it is domination Julio and Harry possess over him. Speaking with coach Mike Smith and Team captain and leader, Matt Ryan there will be an intense training session to get the entire receiver core involved. Get ready, an already deadly passing game, about to take it up a level
Offensive lines never get the credit they deserve. This season, been a bit of a let down for these guys. Ryan getting sacked, running game non existant. Oh my, how there is work to do! They'll get it turned around, or they won't have jobs.
Clearly, the addition of Gerald McCoy and Mario Williams brought opposing Quaterbacks to their knees. Having got to the quarterback more than any other team in the NFL and forcing the most forced fumbles int he league. Completely shutting down other team's running games, there is nothing but to get better. Kudos Dirty Birds!
Only a few words, Punishing, dominating. Sean Weatherspoon and defensive captain Derrick Johnson combined for more tackles than other teams did as a unit. Laying big hits, they filled up the highlight reel. Even to the extent of being a regular season gag reel for fans, on D-Block. Chasing down runningbacks and jarring the ball loose is other teams biggest fears. Look for young Mike Loften to learn from Derrick Johnson when he is ready to retire. Blazing 90 speed, and packs a punch as he hits. Rotation of depth, is becoming a theme. bring the heat Hotlanta!
Coupled together with a high motor defensive line, a vicious linebacker core, it is no secret there is a set of hard hitting ball hawks in the back field. Snatching 13 interceptions, recording 6 forced fumbles, and fined in the millions for their hits, William Moore and Thomas Decoud are the pace setters of any game. Any receiver going deep, knows they are gonna get hit, and prays they hold on to the ball. Don't see this nightmare saftey combo ever ending. Tighten your chinstrap NFC South foes, it is going to be an expensive ride!
FANS HAVE SPOKEN!!!!
DEFENSE RISE UP!
