A look At the Cardinals
This week we dive into the Arizona Cardinals.
]
Logan Thomas is the captain of this offense. This season Thomas recorded 83/119 which is 69% completion percentage. Throwing for 14 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His strong offensive line has only allowed 3 sacks. Quite probable that forces many passes under pressure, which resulted in interceptions rather than just taking the sack.
In this Cards offense, is a 2 back system. Andre Ellington carried the ball 111 times for 774 yards and 6 touchdowns. The other back in this system is Knile Davis. Whom carried the ball 53 times for 282 yards and 6 touchdowns. Again, the strong offensive line keeps these backs moving the chains.
It is no secret that the favorite receiver is Josh Gordon. Who has caught 28 balls for 816 yards and 8 touchdowns. Averaging 29.1 yards per catch. Not anyone else gets close to this. John Brown hauled in 14 balls for 203 yards and a score, and it goes down hill from there.
Defensively the Cardinals are hot and cold. Lets dig into why this is. The leaders in tackles is Deone Bucannon (SS) with 25, Kevin Minter (MLB) with 23, Tyrann Mathieu (FS) with 23, Daryl Washington (MLB) with 22, and Nick Perry (ROLB) with 22. This shows me teams are often reaching the 3rd level of this defense, and either caught from behind by a linebacker, or a stop for the safeties. Not a very good stat from Cardinals Brass to see. This tackling stat also reflects on the pressure, the sack leader, in Nick Perry has 4. Where the front 7 lack, the secondary excels. Patrick Peterson and Sanders Commings each have 5 interceptions a piece. Orlando Scandrick, and Tony Jefferson each have 3 interceptions a piece. 3 other people have 2 a piece and others have 1.
