Washington Redskins S5
Today, we take a look at one of the best team in the NFC year after year, the Washington Redskins. Led by Mykell ''Lil Tails'', the Skins are always in a top spot come playoff time. Lets analyze this dominant NFC East squad.
Roster Breakdown:
Top 3 Offensive players: QB Robert Griffin III, WR Pierre Garcon and LT Trent Williams
QB RG3 clearly is the most important piece of this offense. He can attack you both through the air with his 1255 yards and 14 TD,s and on the ground with 210 yards running with the ball. By being a double threat, he forces defense to be carefull commiting to either the run or the pass. Opposing defense needs to focus on both at the same time all the time. Helping up rushing the ball is 4th year RB Jeff Scott with 571 yards, 5 TD,s and a 9.4 average yards per carry. The passing game is pretty much spread out as there are 4 receivers with at least 12 catches. The leader of the squad is Pierre Garcon with his 433 yards and 4 TD,s.
Top 3 Defensive players: ROLB Brian Orakpo, LOLB Ryan Kerrigan and CB David Amerson
The unquestionnable leader of this defense is ROLB Brian Orakpo who leads the team in tackle with 28, tackles for loss with 12, sacks with 4, he has 2 interceptions and 2 TD,s. That is Defensive player of the year stats right there! B Rak isnt the only top quality player on that squad as shown by the superstar stats CB David Amerson is putting up this season. 4 Interceptions so far ranks him 2nd in the league.
Roster strong spots: QB, LB, DB
Roster weak spots: OL, DL
Rankings:
Washington currently ranks as the 5th best overall offense while being 9th through the air and 7th on the ground. Defensively, the Redskins rank as the 22nd best unit while being 21st defending the pass and 24th at defending the run game.
This offense is really good! It can attack you both ways and score effectively. They are very dangerous!
Defensively, this team is lacking superstar players. They have effective players but they are missing the playmakers who can just shutdown opposing offenses night in night out.
Future of the team:
This team is still pretty young but lets see if they can keep all these players under contract longterm. I really belive the focus going on should be improving in the trenches.
